Hello,
my name is Baha, and this is my story.
Baha was born in Nova Scotia to Turkish parents and has spent most of his life there, except for about 10 years in Seattle during his childhood.

He initially attended SMU to pursue a B.Sc. in Biology with plans to enroll in a Veterinary program. However, switched to Computer Science after discovering Chemistry, and Baha didn’t get along.

As Baha grew older, his father passed down his vintage 35mm Nikon, complete with a Carl Zeiss lens that he has cherished for many years. As life progressed, Baha became engrossed in family and career, leaving little time for photography beyond capturing family gatherings.
He has always had a passion for computers and technology, making it a natural transition him. In 1992, he and a few friends launched a dial-up Internet Service Provider, which they operated for several years before selling it to a larger firm. Over the past 30 years, he has worked in IT industry, primarily focusing on System Administration, IP Networking, and Virtual Servers.

He has been a hobby photographer since he was a pre-teen. The journey began with a Kodak 110 cartridge camera, and in the 80s, he was gifted a Polaroid instant camera. He had a lot of fun using the camera; he was amazed by the self-developing film.

In mid-2019, Baha picked up a Canon EOS RP to document the construction of a Makerspace business he was starting. As everyone knows, 2020 took an unexpected turn, and his years of planning and hard work for the Makerspace became another casualty of COVID.
Luckily, photographing wildlife and landscapes proved to be excellent for social distancing. Being outdoors with his camera again brought him great joy; since then, he has upgraded to two other cameras, enjoying the adventure from hobby to professional.

Baha’s Companions
& Their Stories

Robin
After moving and settling into a townhouse for a few years, Baha felt it was time to look for a dog. In March of 2023, while on a day trip to the Valley, he spotted a sign advertising puppies for sale and decided to call for details. He doesn't quite remember why those puppies didn’t work out, but he checked Kijiji to see what else might be available. That’s when Robin entered his life.

Robin is a mix of Border Collie and Poodle that Baha got from a farm. With the combination of two breeds known for their intelligence, Robin has been easy to train but also presents some challenges. Baha often says that Robin outsmarts him and definitely has a stubborn side. True to his Border Collie roots, Robin has a strong passion for herding and chasing dogs, animals, and toys.

Roxy
In early 2025, a friend of Baha's shared photos of an adorable Black Lab named Roxy in a group chat, asking if anyone was interested in adopting a puppy. Baha had been considering getting another dog to keep Robin company, so this offer caught his attention. A few days later, he found himself driving to Cape Breton to see how Robin and Roxy would interact.

Needless to say they interacted very well together and Roxy came home with us that night. She’s been a wonderful addition to the household and is good match to Robin.

Baha has had family dogs for almost his entire life, but apartment living at the time meant that cats are easier. His 10-year-old tortoiseshell cat, Pixel, is quite annoyed at having to share her house with two young interlopers (dogs). She isn’t shy giving them a swat or two when they stick their noses into her personal space.

Rounding out the animals in the house are two snakes Baha has had for over15 years.
